Early Symptoms of diabetes

 

Diabetes is a condition of Hyperglycemia (Increase level of Glucose in Blood). Most of the times Diabetes is asymptomatic, however it is very important to diagnose diabetes as early as possible to prevent early and late complications of Diabetes.

Symptoms of early diabetes are very subtle and are easily disregard because they may seem harmless. But damage can start years before symptoms become noticeable.

There is condition known as Prediabetes, when there is impaired glucose tolerance, i.e. there are no symptoms of diabetes but blood glucose levels are higher than normal. Even pre-diabetes can increase the risk for heart disease so it’s better to take action sooner. So it is very important to know about the symptoms of Diabetes.

 

Common Symptoms of Diabetes

  • Excessive thirst

  • Increased hunger

  • Increased urination

  • Fatigue, Tiredness and weakness

  • Blurred vision

  • Slow healing of wounds

  • Tingling sensation or numbness in the hands or feet.

  • Abdominal pains

  • Nausea and vomiting

  • Sudden weight loss or gain

  • Skin infections like abscess, pimples

  • Impotence

  • Swelling of feet or legs (Fluid retention)

  • Chronic itching

  • Decreased tolerance to cold

  • Increased heart rate

  • Dry scaly skin

  • Extreme hunger pangs

  • Hot and sweaty with clammy perspiration

  • Heart tremors and palpitations

  • Apprehensive with no obvious reason

  • Nervousness

  • Disoriented, confused, inability to concentrate

  • Frequent headaches, dizziness
